² He gathered together all of the leaders of Israel along with the priests and the Levites.

³ The Levites who were thirty years and older were counted, and the total number of them was thirty-eight thousand. ⁴ David appointed twenty-four thousand of them to supervise the work on the temple of the Lord, and another six thousand of them were to be officials and judges.
